Presenting FaME Ireland findings at the 3rd World Falls Congress
Hosted by the British Geriatrics Society, the three-day international congress brought together researchers, clinicians and policymakers to explore the latest evidence and innovations in falls prevention and management.
Ruth spoke in a well-attended session chaired by Professor Dawn A. Skelton, which featured speakers from Ireland, the UK, Spain and Brazil. The session focused on sharing experiences of implementing evidence-based falls prevention exercise programmes in diverse healthcare settings, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges involved in translating research into practice.
Drawing on findings from the FaME Ireland project, Ruth's presentation explored the facilitators and barriers to implementing the FaME (Falls Management Exercise) programme across Ireland. She was joined by fellow international speakers who shared insights from the UK, Spain and Brazil, offering valuable perspectives on the delivery and sustainability of falls prevention initiatives in different contexts.
The session demonstrated the importance of international collaboration in advancing effective, evidence-based approaches to reducing falls risk and supporting healthy ageing.
Congratulations to Ruth on representing the FaME Ireland project, the Discipline of Physiotherapy, and the School of Clinical Therapies while showcasing this important work on an international stage.
