This year’s Irish Gerontological Society’s Annual and Scientific Meeting took place in Cork from 26th-28th September, with a vibrant scientific programme around the theme of ‘Innovation, Advances and Excellence in Ageing’, and over 430 delegates, the biggest attendance ever at the meeting. UCC was a partner in the conference, with the School of Medicine playing a leading role. Dr Suzanne Timmons, Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation, and Prof Denis O’Mahony, Dept. of Medicine, chaired the local organising committee, with support from UCC researchers across several schools and departments. The UCC ISIS21 Ageing Cluster held a “road to the IGS” workshop in May to maximise student and staff participation in the event, contributing to a strong UCC presence among the presentations and posters.
