Professor Emmanuel Sur to speak at UCC

Professor Emmanuel Sur, from Université de Bordeaux, an expert on sovereignty and constituent power, will present on the philosophical and historical context for the writings of Jean Bodin, the father of modern sovereignty.
We are delighted to welcome Profesor Sur to the LW6530 Contemporary Issues in Constitutional Law class.
The idea of the lecture is to begin to appreciate what the reasons for the emergence of this concept were, in order to understand how we can rightly engage with it (as opposed to using sovereignty, at the other extreme, solely as a useful political catchphrase, without any regard for essential meaning).
The lecture is scheduled for Wednesday, 12th March, at 9:00 a.m. in Room AL1.64.
