Professor Stewart Smyth delivers his Inaugural Lecture in the College
"Accountants Will Save the World....Really?" was the title of Professor Stewart Smyth's Inaugural lecture in the College, delivered on 8 May 2024 in the O'Rahilly Building before an audience of academic and adminstrative colleagues, family, friends and invited guests.
Head of College Professor Thia Hennessy welcomed the audience to the event, and was followed at the podium by the Interim Dean of CUBS Professor Anthony McDonnell who introduced Professor Smyth.
Professor Smyth, Professor in Accounting for Sustainable Business, joined CUBS in July 2023. His research interests cover the policy and financing of public services, focusing on public/social housing and the use of PPPs to deliver public infrastructure; the use of accounting information by trade unions and social movements; and related conceptions of public accountability.
