CUBS Go Global at Home Week 2027: Call for Visiting Faculty

Cork University Business School (UCC) is pleased to invite distinguished academic staff to take part in the inaugural ‘Go Global at Home Week’ 2027, taking place from 22–26 February 2027 on our campus in Cork, Ireland.

This initiative brings international faculty to teach on short, face-to-face modules to our 1st year undergraduate students, giving them structured exposure to diverse, global business perspectives. Through this intensive week, we invite visiting faculty to contribute to a more vibrant inter-cultural learning environment and help shape CUBS students into future leaders that deliver a more sustainable future for all. We are focused on providing our students with opportunities to build global awareness, understanding and skills.

This week also seeks to strengthen academic collaborations and provide enhanced opportunities for our faculty to expand their international networks.

Who We Are Looking For:

• Academic staff with expertise in international/global business topics with particular interest in those with expertise in intercultural competence and global skills development
• Competence to teach in English
• Comfortable teaching an engaged but academically early-stage audience
• Able to design interactive, activity-based sessions

Topic Areas

Short proposals are welcome on topics related to global business and which are pitched at an introductory undergraduate level. We are especially interested in proposals that can help build students’ intercultural competence and global skills development.

Our focus in this inaugural week is our Bachelor of Commerce and BSc Business Information Systems Programmes. Details on these programmes can be found at:

Requirements

• Brief learning outcomes statement mapped to intercultural/global competence alongside subject knowledge
• Interactive delivery expected: e.g. case discussion, simulation, group activities etc.
• Outline of any resources required to deliver teaching (e.g. room configuration/set-up; flip boards)
• Maximum 8 teaching hours in total, delivered within the 22–26 February week (up to 1 of these hours may be used for the staff research seminar)
• Taught in English and designed for introductory level (1^st year UG students)
• Supportable through the Erasmus+ teaching mobility programme or other funding supports.

Research Presentation

In addition to teaching, selected lecturers are invited to deliver a 1-hour research seminar to Cork University Business School academic staff and PhD students during their visit. This is a valuable opportunity to share your current research with our faculty and explore areas for future collaboration or joint publication.

If interested and willing, please indicate this in your application along with a working title/abstract of your proposed talk.

Scheduling will be confirmed with selected participants alongside their teaching timetable

Support & Logistics

• Hotel accommodation costs for the duration of the visit will be supplemented by Cork University Business School
• Travel costs should be covered via the Erasmus+ teaching mobility programme through your home institution or other secured funding (will need to be confirmed)
• Further logistical details (arrival day, campus access, local information) will be shared with participants ahead of the visit
