ABCRF & Dept of Chemistry student wins prize at international conference.

Jesse Omamogho, a postgraduate student, at UCC’s Chemistry Department, under the supervision of Professor Jeremy Glennon, and a researcher in the Irish Separation Science Cluster (ISSC), has won the Csaba Horváth Young Scientist Award.

6th Annual Eli Lilly Postgraduate Research Symposium in Organic & Pharmaceutical Chemistry took place on Thursday 18th September 2008.  The event was once again a great success

Dr. Noel O'Boyle, a visiting postdoctoral researcher at the ABCRF, has been awarded a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship by the Health Research Board.

A new report launched on December 15th 2009 by the Advisory Council for Science, Technology and Innovation (ACSTI) has found that Irish R&D firms employing PhD researchers have rates of patenting 2.5 times greater than similarly active firms which do not employ PhD researchers and have vastly higher collaboration rates with both Higher Education Institutes and other firms.

UCC and Almac (a contract research and manufacturing organisation based in Northern Ireland, specialising in integrated drug development and human health) are proud to announce the official launch of an academic/industrial collaboration in the field of solid state chemistry.
