We were delighted to welcome representatives from the University of Plymouth to UCC recently to sign an agreement with UCC to address some of the critical climate and sustainability challenges facing our planet. The first initiative under the agreement, inspired by last year’s COP26 summit, will see early career researchers funded to conduct climate research at both the University of Plymouth and UCC.

Ground-breaking seabird research published in Smithsonian Magazine
13 Jul 2022Jamie Darby and colleagues at MaREI and the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences have found that cloudier water caused by climate change and marine pollution may make it harder for seabirds to catch their food. The team discovered that Manx Shearwaters dive deeper when the water is clearer.

Wrixon Bursaries will support STEM postgraduates at Tyndall National Institute
