UCC has renamed its Environmental Research Institute’s Lee Road Building in honour of the pioneering botanist and Cork woman Ellen Hutchins.

The European Commission has launched a €4M investment to establish a Dairy Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) under the Erasmus+ scheme. The programme is led by the Association of European Dairy Industry Learning (AEDIL) and will establish nine regional Centres, including one based in UCC. The centres will contribute to a transnational European Dairy Learning Hub, which will be led by Professor Seamus O’Mahony, School of Food and Nutritional Sciences.

Alumni from UCC’s Computer Science Class of 1982 returned to their alma mater recently to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their graduation. This class is of particular significance as they were the first students in Ireland to graduate with a degree in Computer Science.

An international team of researchers led by Séamus Davis, Professor of Quantum Physics at UCC and the University of Oxford, has announced results that reveal the atomic mechanism behind high-temperature superconductors. The findings are published in PNAS.
