Ten APC Microbiome Ireland researchers have been named in the 2018 world list of Highly Cited Researchers, five of whom are in the new Cross-Field category.

The Graduate School in the College of Science, Engineering & Food Science offers a number of Travel Bursaries for students currently registered for a postgraduate doctoral degree (PhD) in the College of Science, Engineering & Food Science.

"Agriculture returns to Cork”– that’s the message of a new Agricultural Science degree at University College Cork in collaboration with Teagasc.

Michael McGrath, third-year Chemistry of Pharmaceutical Compounds student completed the GROW programme with Boston Scientific Cork in 2017 and as a result, is now completing his third-year work placement with the company. Rachael Dunne, second-year Chemistry of Pharmaceutical Compounds student is completing the GROW programme summer 2018.

The Graduate School in the College of SEFS offers a number of Travel Bursaries for students currently registered for a postgraduate doctoral degree (PhD). These awards enable students to present their work at an international conference or facilitate the training of students who wish to acquire skills that are essential for their academic development, but which they cannot otherwise receive in UCC.

The Schools of Biological, Earth & Environmental Sciences (BEES) and Chemistry, along with the School of Pharmacy, are the first in UCC to earn departmental-level Athena SWAN accreditation. 

Last autumn, Qualcomm sponsored the upgrading of the CAD lab in the Department where now students across Engineering will benefit of state of the art computing. Steve Halter (Senior Director of Engineering, Qualcomm San-Diego) and Paul Kelleher (Senior Director of Engineering, Qualcomm Cork) opened the upgraded lab.

Dr Barbara Doyle Prestwich and Dr Eoin Lettice presented a Wollemia Pine specimen to University College Cork this week to mark the culmination of their leadership of the International Association for Plant Biotechnology (IAPB).
