Public Participation Workshop
Public Participation Workshop
Monday 11 October, 6pm-7.30pm
Making submissions to development plans, or objections to planning applications can be a daunting process. Join us for a workshop demystifying the process, and learn how to have your voice heard in consultation processes.
This collaboration between Cork Environmental Forum and UCC Green Campus Network aims to equip people with the tools and knowledge to actively engage in their community through public consultation processes, development plans, and planning objections.
Together with and for Community
CEF - Inspired by the Rio Earth Conference in 1992, Cork Environmental Forum (CEF) came into being in 1995. It was supported by Cork County Council as an instrument for applying the principles of Local Agenda 21/ now Local Agenda 2030. It brings various stakeholders together at a local level throughout Cork City and County, who would not ordinarily have occasion to meet to discuss local sustainability and environmental issues and agree on an appropriate action plan. Its primary purpose remains to foster, promote and implement sustainable development at a local level in the Cork region.
UCC Green Campus - UCC was the first University in the world to be awarded a Green Flag from the Foundation for Environmental Education. Our Green Campus programme is student-led, research-informed and practice-focused and our success demonstrates the strong commitment across all levels and divisions in the university. In 2018, UCC became the first university in Europe to be awarded a Gold Star from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.
UNIC CityLabs: The UNIC European University is an alliance of eight universities educating through teaching, research and community engagement, towards inclusive societies. Central to this, is the collaborative work of UNIC CityLabs to create physical and virtual meeting points where students, citizens, academia and city stakeholders work together to identify and solve societal challenges faced by post-industrial superdiverse cities. During Community Week staff, students and city representatives from across the eight European partner cities convene in Liege for the inaugural CityLabs Festival.
Our UNIC CityLaabs programme strand highlights events and activities taking place in Cork and Liege during Community Week that are connecting the exciting collaborations taking place in Cork and across European through the UNIC CityLabs intiative.
UCC Community Week: This event is part of UCC Community Week 2021. During Community Week, staff and students across the university come together with community and public sector partners to host community focussed events and activities. The week long programme of events celebrates UCC as a civically engaged university.
