Native Scientist
Native Scientist: Children's Workshop [French]
Friday 15 October, 4-5pm
Native Scientist hosts this French language workshop exploring scientific concepts through hands-on experiments, delivered in association with Enfants Francophones de Cork, Ambassade de France en Irlande and APC Microbiome at UCC.
During this hands-on workshop, French-speaking scientists will meet young children in the community for a science workshop in the French language. This workshop is a great opportunity for children to practice their language skills and develop their interest in science. The workshop is suitable for children aged 6 to 12 years who speak some French at home.
Together with and for Community
APC Microbiome - The APC Microbiome Ireland SFI Research Centre, is a lively trans-disciplinary environment with clinicians, clinician-scientists and basic scientists from diverse backgrounds working in teams, sharing ideas and resources. Although focused upon the magic and mysteries of the gastrointestinal bacterial community, (the microbiota), the scale and scope of the work has become one of the fastest moving areas of biology, of relevance to all branches of human medicine and veterinary science, and is of growing importance to the economic welfare of society. Education and Public Engagement is an integral part of APC’s strategy.
UCC Community Week: This event is part of UCC Community Week 2021. During Community Week, staff and students across the university come together with community and public sector partners to host community focussed events and activities. The week long programme of events celebrates UCC as a civically engaged university.
