Electrical and Engineering Graduates amongst 9 honoured at the 2024 Alumni Achievement awards.
Nine alumni were honoured at the 2024 Alumni Achievement Awards in the iconic Aula Maxima, UCC. Two are graduates of Electrical and Electrical Engineering; Michael Guinee and Dr Linda Doyle.
The awards are made in recognition of their exceptional achievements since graduation. The awardees included:
- Dr Pamela Byrne (BSc 1994; PhD 2000), Chief Executive for the Food Safety Authority of Ireland
- Trinity College Dublin Provost Dr Linda Doyle (BE 1989)
- Michael Guinee (BE 1968), Founder and CEO of Ei Electronics
- UCC Rugby Football Club volunteers Dr Len Harty (MB 1968) and Dr Noel O’Mahony (MB 1965)
- Dr Naomi Masheti (BA 2007; MA 2008; PhD 2015), Programme Director of the Cork Migrant Centre
- Businessman and strategic advisor to the university David Merriman (BA 1990; MBA 1993)
- Award-winning actress and presenter, Siobhán McSweeney (BSc 2001)
- Sustainability and climate expert Ruairí O’Mahony (BA 2006; MPlan 2008)
President of UCC, Professor John O’Halloran commended those who received awards; “I am delighted to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of our awardees. Each awardee brings immense pride to the university, embodying our values and demonstrating our global impact.”
