Research Ireland 2026 Government of Ireland Postgraduate and Postdoctoral calls are now open

This programme is open to applicants from any discipline and of any nationality, and will support the following scholarships/fellowships (01 September 2026 start date):
Postgraduate:
2-Year Research Master’s degree Scholarship
4-Year PhD Scholarship
Postdoctoral:
1-Year Postdoctoral Fellowship to prepare a doctoral thesis for publication
2-Year Postdoctoral Fellowship to develop a new research project
Please note that there have been changes to the eligibility criteria for this year:
- Primary Postgraduate Supervisors and Postdoctoral Mentors can only support one applicant to each call (PG/PD)
- Postgraduate applicants must be new entrants or have registered for their degree after 01 September 2025
- Postdoctoral applicants must have authored at least 1 published peer-reviewed publication or have a demonstratable equivalent research output
IMPORTANT: Supervisors/Mentors, please share the relevant SharePoint page and Q&A session links with your potential applicant(s) to these calls. If a potential applicant does not have a UCC email address, they will need permission to access the relevant SharePoint site. Please have them contact UCC Research (goiapplications@ucc.ie) to gain access. To register yourself as a supervisor/mentor in the online portal for this call, please also contact UCC Research.
