Partnering with Mothers to Improve Infant Feeding Research

Mothers share their experiences contributing to the SCOPE project to help improve how infant-feeding outcomes are measured in research.

SCOPE is a Health Research Board funded project led by Dr Karen Matvienko-Sikar, School of Public Health, University College Cork. The aim of the SCOPE project is to develop a core outcome measurement set (COMS), including reliable, valid, and appropriate measures of core infant-feeding outcomes for implementation in research and practice. Developing a COMS will enhance synthesis and evaluation of childhood obesity prevention interventions.

Throughout 2025, the SCOPE team had the pleasure of collaborating with a wonderful group of mothers whose insights have been central to understanding how infant feeding outcomes should be measures. In the video below, they share their reflections and experiences in their own words.

The SCOPE project is funded by a Health Research Board Emerging Investigator Award (EIA-2022-005) to Dr Karen Matvienko-Sikar (karen.msikar@ucc.ie).
