PhD Success for Maja Railic at School of Pharmacy, UCC

The School of Pharmacy, UCC is pleased to announce that Maja Railic has successfully defended her PhD thesis entitled “Preclinical Evaluation of Dissolvable Microneedle Patches for Allergy Treatment: Key Factors Governing In Vitro and In Silico Assessment.”
Her research investigated the development and assessment of dissolvable microneedle patches as a novel approach for allergy treatment. By combining preclinical laboratory studies with in silico modelling, Maja’s work provided new insights into the critical factors influencing the performance and reliability of this emerging drug delivery system.
This work was supervised by Dr Sonja Vucen and Prof Abina Crean, with examination by Dr Eneko Larrañeta (Queen’s University Belfast) and Dr Patrick O’Dwyer (UCC). The project was funded by SSPC and the SFI Research Centre for Pharmaceuticals.
We congratulate Maja on this important achievement and look forward to seeing the future impact of her research in advancing patient-focused drug delivery technologies.
