Jack Murray Successfully Defends PhD Thesis
Congratulations to Jack Murray, who has successfully defended his PhD in Pharmaceutics at the School of Pharmacy, University College Cork.
Jack's doctoral research, entitled Advancing Data-Driven and Mechanistic Modelling for Oral Drug Product Development, explored innovative predictive modelling approaches to improve the understanding, design and optimisation of oral medicines. By combining data-driven methods with mechanistic modelling, his research contributes to the development of more efficient and predictive strategies for oral drug product development, with the potential to support faster and more informed pharmaceutical decision-making.
Jack's research was funded by Research Ireland and the Fulbright Commission Ireland. During his PhD, he also completed a research secondment at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy, where he worked with Professor James Polli. Computational resources supporting the research were provided by the Irish Centre for High-End Computing (ICHEC).
Jack was supervised by Professor Brendan Griffin, Dr Patrick O'Dwyer and Dr Harriet Bennett-Lenane. His viva examination was conducted by internal examiner Dr Piotr Kowalski, external examiner Professor Mine Orlu and independent chair Dr André Toulouse.
