On 15 July, the School of Pharmacy hosted a research seminar led by CarboHyde, a partner in the Horizon Europe-funded GENEGUT project. The event brought together members of the GENEGUT consortium to share insights and progress in the area of cyclodextrin research.

The seminar, held in the Pharmacy Building, featured presentations from:

  • Daniel Bisericaru, on the synthesis, characterisation and application of cyclodextrin derivatives functionalised with natural amino acids for targeted drug transport and chiral separation.

  • Balazs Kondor, who discussed the role of cyclodextrins in biotechnology, including current applications and emerging opportunities.

This seminar series forms part of GENEGUT’s wider effort to support collaboration across research, clinical, and industrial partners, in pursuit of developing a novel oral RNA-based therapy for ileal Crohn’s disease. The project is coordinated by Professor Caitriona O’Driscoll of the School of Pharmacy, UCC.
