BPharm3 Students Explore UCC’s Arboretum
The mild, spring weather on the afternoon of Monday, 19 February raised the mood of all the BPharm3 students who attended the annual tour of UCC’s Arboretum.
The tour was organised and narrated by Dr Barbara Doyle-Prestwich and Dr Eoin Lettice of UCC’s Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences.
During the expedition through UCC’s flora-filled grounds, Barbara and Eoin discussed their passion for botany with the students, in addition to pointing out the myriad of plants and trees on UCC’s campus with medicinal and pharmaceutical properties.
Many thanks to Barbara and Eoin for organising the event, sharing their botanical expertise with the pharmacy students and highlighting the historical and ongoing importance of the plant kingdom in its provision of drug substances and the inspiration of new drugs for the enhancement of global healthcare.
