2023 ‘Advanced Topics in Pharmacy Summer School’ for Future University of Egypt Students
From June 26th-July 7th UCC School of Pharmacy hosted a 2-week summer school for FUE Students.
International students from FUE have successfully completed the two week ‘Advanced Topics in Pharmacy Summer School’, marking the fifth Summer School run by the School of Pharmacy in UCC.
Thirteen students and two staff members from FUE took part in both academic and cultural experiences during their trip. During the Summer School students learned about topics in Industrial and Clinical Pharmacy from UCC pharmacy staff and external collaborators. Students were also exposed to the real-life practice with visits to Abbvie in Carrigtwohill, Boots Pharmacy on Half Moon Street, and Cork University Hospital. They were also welcomed to Cork by the Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr. Collette Finn. While there was also great exchange of teaching methods and experiences between the School of Pharmacy staff, and Dr. Eman Elmokadem and Dr. Noha Khalil.
In addition to the academic timetable, numerous cultural activities were organised. Students enjoyed trips to Blarney Castle, Cobh, Ziplining in Farran Wood and dancing the Siege of Ennis by the Lough!
The closing ceremony for the Summer School took place in the Aula Maxima in UCC on Friday the 7th of July. The Summer School was enjoyed by all and we look forward to many more years of knowledge and cultural exchange.
