UCC holds onto QS World University Ranking
UCC has retained its position among the top 1.1% universities globally in the QS World University Rankings.
In the 2018 edition, the institution performed among the top 29% in the Rankings. Considering there are approximately 26,000 universities globally, this makes University College Cork (UCC) one of the top 1.1% universities in the world. At 118 globally, the International Faculty indicator is the strongest for UCC.
For the sixth year running, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) leads the way in the QS rankings of more than 950 of the world's best universities in the world, with the top four universities all based in the US. This year’s rankings were compiled by assessing universities on six different indicators, such as such as academic and employer reputation, research and staff-student ratios (full methodology can be found here). Over 75,000 academics and 40,000 employers contributed, while 12.3 million papers and 71.5 million citations were analysed to measure the impact of the research produced by each university.
The ranking today follows the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2017 released earlier this year, in which UCC’s Schools of Nursing & Midwifery and Pharmacy & Pharmacology ranked in the top 100. The University increased its number of subjects that feature in the top tier of QS Subject rankings to 16, up six from 2011 and up two since last year.
UCC’s excellent performance in these Rankings, after becoming the first university to be named The Sunday Times University of the Year 2017 for the two consecutive years, reinforces UCC’s leading position in Irish education.
