Third Year Poster Session and Prizegiving Event 2024

The annual presentation of 3rd year posters, a culmination of lab-based module MB3016 Methods in Microbiology, took place in the North Wing Council room.
A large gathering of students and staff from the School of Microbiology were in attendance and yet again, there was an exceptionally high standard of entrants this year. The winning group whose poster is entitled: 'From Soil to Solution: Discovering New Antibiotics' comprised Megan Martin, Kate Murphy and Chloe Clifford Looney and were presented their prize by Head of School, Dr David Clarke.
Ms Carmel Shortiss is the main organiser of this event, supported by Dr John O'Callaghan and team. The work on display showcased the exemplary teaching, research and dedication of the School of Microbiology inspiring students to become inquisitive scientists of the future.
This event also acknowledged the accomplishments of two students for their academic success, pictured below. Saoirse Flavin received the Tadhg O’Mullane Award 2023/2024 which was presented by members of the O’Mullane family. Saoirse was also the recipient of the Microbiology Society Prize. Emmet Conroy received the Professor Michael Grimes Award 2023/2024 presented by Head of School of Microbiology, Dr David Clarke.
