Record number of MIRT presentations at the European Congress of Radiology
Eight staff and six postgraduate students represented UCC at the European Congress of Radiology in Vienna, with a record programme of presentations, live research data collection at the EFRS Research Hub, and two hands-on workshops.
The MIRT team travelled to Vienna again this year for a very enjoyable and rewarding European Congress of Radiology. We were delighted that we had a record number of presentations and research projects running. A huge congratulations to our amazing and diligent students!
We had:
- 8 staff members in attendance
- 3 MSc Diagnostic Radiography students- thank you Ailise, Robbie and John. You were, and are, a credit to UCC. And also, to Balwant who joined online to conduct interviews during the congress as part of her research project. It was great to see you in virtual format! Thank you to EFRS for space in the Research Hub.
- 3 PhD students. Mo'men, Yasser and David - you were a great help and it was fantastic to see your work presented.
We presented:
- 21 Electronic Posters (EPOS)
- 6 Oral Scientific Abstract Presentations
- 4 Invited Presentations
- 2 Hands-On Workshops
- and moderated 6 sessions.
We presented work from both our own research, on behalf of students and invited talks on our areas of expertise:

From above left: Dr Clare Rainey speaking on AI in clinical radiograph, David Adebayo presenting on his PhD work, Dr Andrew England, Chairing the ESR MRI safety and quality subcommittee session, and Mr Ciaran Walsh talking about pathways to clinical leadership.
MSc and PhD students had the opportunity to gather data at the EFRS Research Hub. The team offer sincere thanks to Dr Jonathan Portelli and his team for the opportunity.
