Welcome to UCC IT Services Support

Our IT Services staff provide secure, reliable, and user-friendly technology support for University College Cork staff. From account setup and multi-factor authentication to troubleshooting and password resets, our team is here to make your IT experience smooth and efficient. Explore our Knowledgebase, submit a support ticket, or contact the IT Service Desk - we are ready to help.

IT Service Desk

The Staff IT Service Desk is the first point of contact for UCC staff for all IT issues and requests. It is there to assist with any technical issues you might run into.

You can browse our Self-Service Knowledgebase to find answers to your IT issues/queries or log a ticket with IT Services on the Services Portal.

You can check the status of IT services and systems and find out about any planned maintenance.

If further technical support is required, the IT Service Desk will escalate your case to the relevant IT Services team for further investigation.

UCC Logon Account

A UCC Logon account is required to access UCC online services.  An account consists of a username and a password and depending on the account type may also include a UCC email address. For security, all UCC logon accounts are enabled for multifactor authentication, allowing for the account to be used off campus.

New Staff may be interested in completing the short IT Services Onboarding course on Canvas. This will help you get to know your UCC IT account, how to set up your device, how to stay secure and how we collaborate here at UCC.

Staff can also view the UCC Log On Account information page on SharePoint which describes the account types, how they are requested and the services available to use with them.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA)

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an extra layer of security for your University logon account. Verifying your identity using an additional factor (something you have in your possession, such as your phone) prevents others from accessing your account, even if they know your password.

Resetting Your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

If you no longer have access to the device or app you used for Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), the Staff IT Service Desk can help you reset it.

View the MFA Reset guide to learn more.

Self Service Password Reset (SSPR)

Self Service Password Reset (SSPR) enables you to reset your @ucc.ie password anywhere anytime without the need to contact our Service Desk.  Self Service Password Reset can be used when you have forgotten your password, your password has expired, you wish to reset/change your current password or you want to unlock your account.

To use Self Service Password Reset (SSPR), you must have Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) already configured for your account and have access to the phone used with it.

Bring Your Own Identity (BYOID) at UCC

What is BYOID?

Bring Your Own Identity (BYOID) allows external parties such as external examiners or project collaborators to use credentials from their home institution or personal accounts instead of UCC issuing them a separate account. Since moving to Office 365, this occurs when someone shares a document or folder via OneDrive or Teams with a non-UCC email address. BYOID has replaced AFL accounts for external users accessing Canvas.
