Sligo FaME Co-design: Turning Knowledge into Action

On 12th June 2025, the FaME Ireland team hosted a third multiagency co-design workshop in Sligo for over 30 local health services staff involved in falls management services, and other community based older people's health services and exercise services. We had representatives from the Community Healthcare Area covering Cavan, Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan and Sligo.
Building on the groundwork already in place in the region with the recent launch of the Community Services Falls Prevention Framework (https://www.hse.ie/eng/services/publications/falls-prevention-framework.pdf) the groups of delegates on the day covered topics around access, awareness and engagement, maintenance and partnerships, and resources and sustainability, and had a chance to network with colleagues working in the area of physical activity and falls management.
The full programme covered:
Access to the programme – How do the right people get into the FaME programme, and how do we raise awareness with healthcare professionals?
Awareness raising and ongoing engagement – Maintaining participant engagement and fostering behavioural change.
Keeping people active after FaME and developing partnerships – Making links and keeping participants active and socially connected post-programme.
Ensuring long-term viability of FaME – Securing and sustaining the valuable workforce and longer term funding streams to maintain the programme.
