Professor John Cryan to present 15th annual De Pazzi Lecture

Professor John Cryan has been invited to present the 15th annual De Pazzi Lecture in Cork University Hospital. Professor Cryan will present a lecture entitled 'Unravelling the Impact of Stress on Health: Brain, Bowel & Behaviour' . The 15th annual De Pazzi Lecture will take place in the Main Lecture Theatre Cork University Hospital on October 9th at 1.00pm.

Professor Cryan graduated with a B.Sc. Biochemistry and a PhD. in Pharmacology from NUl Galway. His research career has been spent at the University of Melbourne, Australia, the University of Pennsylvannia, Philadelphia, The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California followed by 4 years as a group Leader at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, Basel, Switzerland before returning to Ireland to take up a joint post between the School of Pharmacy and the Dept. Pharmacology & Therapeutics as a Senior Lecturer. John is now Professor of Anatomy at UCC. He is a Principal Investigator in the Neurogastroenterology Core with an interest in understanding the interaction between the brain and gut and how it applies to stress and immune-related disorders, ranging from Irritable Bowel Syndrome to sepsis.
