Professor Nicole Müller joins the Executive Management Committee of UCC Futures – Future Ageing and Brain Science
The Executive Management Committee brings together experts from across University College Cork and partner organisations, representing disciplines including pharmacology, anatomy and neuroscience, psychology, medicine, microbiome science and healthy ageing research. The group will help shape the direction of this ambitious interdisciplinary initiative, which aims to advance research and innovation in ageing and brain science.
Professor Müller brings internationally recognised expertise in clinical linguistics and phonetics, and in understanding the impact of cognitive deterioration on communication and interaction. Her research focuses on dementia, aphasia, multilingualism and age-related communication disorders, with a particular emphasis on quality of life, social participation and care.
Her appointment reflects the important contribution of communication sciences within ageing and brain health research, and highlights the expertise within the School of Clinical Therapies in addressing some of the key challenges associated with ageing populations.
