The School is delighted to see Audiology and Speech and Hearing Sciences  featured in the recently launched UCC Philanthropy Impact Report 2024–2025, which showcases the positive impact of philanthropic support across the University.

The report highlights the Walker Hearing Clinic PhD Scholarship in Audiology and Hearing Sciences (pp. 24–25), a transformative initiative that reflects the importance of partnership and generosity in advancing research, innovation, and postgraduate education. The scholarship supports doctoral research within Audiology, enabling scholars to contribute to the development of evidence‑based practice while strengthening research capacity in hearing sciences at UCC.

Philanthropic support plays a vital role in enabling the University to foster academic excellence and societal impact. Through scholarships such as these, postgraduate researchers are provided with valuable opportunities to pursue advanced research, contribute to the understanding of hearing and communication, and engage in work that has the potential to improve clinical practice and patient outcomes.

The inclusion of Audiology in this year’s Philanthropy Impact Report highlights the growing recognition of the discipline’s contribution to healthcare, research, and education at UCC. It also underscores the value of sustained collaboration between the University and external partners who share a commitment to supporting innovation and future talent.

The School extends its sincere thanks to Walker Hearing Clinic for their generosity and continued support of postgraduate research, as well as to all University partners whose philanthropic contributions make initiatives such as this possible. Their engagement helps ensure that UCC remains at the forefront of research-led teaching and clinical impact.
