Launch of the results of the external evaluation of the Alzheimer Society of Ireland's 'Day Care at Home' service

The Alzheimer Society of Ireland (ASI) commissioned an evaluation, funded by the National Dementia Office, of the ASI's 'Day Care at Home' service. This was was undertaken by Dr. Emma O’Shea and Professor Suzanne Timmons in the Centre for Gerontology and Rehabilitation at University College Cork in 2023.

The results of this evaluation have now been published in a report detailing the unique and added value of the service within the dementia care landscape nationally.

Dr O' Shea presented the findings of the report to ASI staff on January 24th, at an event attended by Minister Mary Butler, and officials from the ASI, the National Dementia Office, and the Department of Health.

An additional €500,000 of funding has since been allocated to the ASI service, highlighting a commitment to building service capacity to meet the growing demand.
