Students and alumni come together for a mindful morning

The first University College Cork X Deloitte Alumni Breakfast series event was a huge success, with a full room of students, alumni, and friends coming together for a morning focused on 'Mindfulness & Wellbeing: Performance & Resilience'. The morning started by getting moving with a fantastic Pilates session, led by alum Abbey White, before coming together over some breakfast nibbles for a really engaging conversation around performance, resilience, sleep, movement and wellbeing. A huge thank you to panellists Conor McGlinchey, Justine Kelleher, and Abbey White for such interesting insights into each of their areas of expertise and a huge thank you to Tom Dalton for guiding such a thoughtful and engaging conversation as our moderator.

An evening of community, bringing Cork alumni together at the beautiful Nano Nagle Place

In collaboration with Cork Convention Bureau and Fáilte Ireland, the Cork Alumni Club invited alumni to a wonderful evening exploring all that our city has to offer, with brilliant insights, great conversations and delicious food from Good Day Deli. Club Chair, Anthony Gaffney, introduced the evening’s key theme which centred on “connection” and Evelyn O’Sullivan and Karen McCarthy spoke about the great range of supports available from Cork Convention Bureau for individuals and organisations who wish to bring conferences and global gatherings to Cork. Nano Nagle Place is a vibrant space where heritage, community and social justice come together. We heard from two members of the UCC alumni community who are helping shape its future - John Smith (CEO of Nano Nagle Place) and Dr Naomi Masheti (Cork Migrant Centre), who spoke of the inspiring work taking place there today. The next Cork Alumni Club event, a Walking Tour of UCC, is already fully subscribed but stay tuned for news of further events in the coming months.

From the Lee to the Huangpu – UCC Alumni China Chapter met again in Shanghai!

In September, alumni and friends gathered at Guinness Social in Tianzifang, Shanghai. Organised by the UCC China Office, the event brought together alumni, students and guests for an evening of connection and celebration with talks from Dr JB McCarthy, Vice Dean, Internationlisation and External Engagement of Cork University Business School and Caroline Zhou, current DBA student representative. It was a nice mix of familiar faces and new connections. Many shared a common bond having worked together on group projects! The event highlighted the strength and warmth of the UCC community in China.
