Summer School Screws 2026

IFToMM 11th International Summer School on Screw-Theory Based Methods in Robotics (Summer Screws 2026) and Ball’s Screw Theory Sesquicentenary Celebration Day, chaired by Prof. Guangbo Hao, were successfully held at University College Cork (UCC), Ireland, during 19-25 July 2026.

Summer Screws 2026 were attended by 45 participants from 11 countries and more than 30 organisations (including Peking University, UCLA, Imperial College London, EPFL, TU Delft, Italian Institute of Technology, INSA Strasbourg). The summer school was formally opened by Dr. Alan Morrison, Head of School of Engineering and Architecture, UCC.

Participants attended six full days of Screw Theory lectures/courses (delivered by 7 invited international renowned lecturers), the Ball’s Screw Theory 150-Year Anniversary Special Day event, two laboratory tours, and the Summer School excursion. Prof. Alan Kelly, Head of College of SEFS, UCC, opened the Special Day event to commemorate the Sesquicentenary, followed by five keynote lectures from US, UK, China and Ireland including one by Prof. Tom Ray, Robert Ball Professor of Astrophysics at TCD and DIAS.
