SOEA Academics Receive Prestigious Qualcomm Recognition Awards
Three outstanding academics from the UCC School of Engineering and Architecture were recently honoured with prestigious Qualcomm Faculty Recognition Awards.
These awards recognise university academics for their exceptional contributions to research excellence, innovation, and learning and teaching in key technology areas. Each award is accompanied by a philanthropic gift to support ongoing teaching, learning, and research initiatives.
QT Technologies Ireland Limited (Qualcomm Ireland) and UCC share a long-standing and impactful collaboration, driving cutting-edge research, innovative technologies, and talent development that strengthen the technology ecosystem in Cork, Munster, and beyond.
The Award Recipients are:
Dr Kevin McCarthy, Lecturer, School of Engineering and Architecture is acknowledged for his extensive contributions to analogue and RF design, semiconductor modelling, and innovation in learning and teaching.
Professor Dimitra Psychogiou, Professor of Microwave Communications at UCC, SFI Research Professor, and Head of the Advanced RF Technology Group at Tyndall National Institute – an internationally recognised leader in reconfigurable microwave and millimetre‑wave RF systems.
Dr Colin Murphy, Lecturer and Director of First Year Engineering, UCC – commended for his leadership in engineering education, digital communications, and the innovative use of generative AI and industry collaboration in teaching and research.
