School of Engineering Postdoc wins Prestigious IRC Fellowship Award
Congratulations to Dr. Pongsiri Kuresangsai (far right in photo) who was among the early-stage researchers at UCC to have received over 4.6 million Euro in research funding in the 2024 Government of Ireland Postdoctoral Fellowship and Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Awards.
Dr Kuresangsai was awarded the Prestigious IRC Fellowship Award for his project 'Smart-fluid-controlled compliant mechanisms for nano-manipulation'.
He is supervised by Professor Guangbo Hao, Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Prof Hao tells us ,
'The international application is highly competitive with a possible successful rate less than 5%. Pongsiri was a visiting PhD student during COVID (2020-2021) in my CoMAR lab for 8 months. We have worked together to publish two high-impact journal papers so far. I am very delighted to have him at UCC for another 2 years'.
The programmes support exceptional early-career researchers to pursue cutting-edge research with world-class potential in any discipline across the sciences, engineering, arts and humanities. 47 UCC research projects received awards announced recently by the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Patrick O’Donovan.
