Engineering students gathered in Boole 4 at University College Cork on Thursday October 8th for an engaging lecture and Q&A session hosted by representatives from Red Bull. The event provided students with a unique opportunity to gain insight into the engineering, innovation, and operational excellence that underpin one of the world's most recognisable brands.
During the lecture, the speakers discussed how engineering principles are applied across various aspects of Red Bull's operations, from product development and manufacturing processes to logistics, sustainability initiatives, and high-performance motorsport programmes. Students learned about the importance of innovation, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement in maintaining a competitive global business.
A key focus of the presentation was the role of engineering in solving real-world challenges. The speakers highlighted examples of how multidisciplinary teams collaborate to improve efficiency, optimise performance, and develop new technologies. They also emphasised the growing importance of sustainability, digitalisation, and emerging technologies within the industry.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students had the opportunity to ask questions about career pathways, graduate opportunities, industry trends, and the skills most sought after by employers. The discussion provided valuable advice on professional development, including the importance of communication, teamwork, adaptability, and practical experience alongside academic achievement.
