EngSummit 2019

This year's EngSummit run by UCC’s Engineering Society and proudly sponsored by Tandem Project Management was a great success. Ciara Leonard, (UCC Engineering Society) introduced the first of the speakers, Patrick O’ Shea (President of UCC) who informed the crowd of his own involvement in engineering in the past and how it’s played a big role in his own life. 

Followed by Professor Liam Marnane (Head of school of Engineering in UCC) who reminded everyone of the importance of engineering in the 21st century and how life changing new technologies are being created. Tandem's Tim Mulhall (CEO) inspired everyone to not be afraid to their boundaries. He also told his story of how he set up Tandem, which has since gone from strength to strength and now employs over 120 people. Ronan Murphy (Electrical Engineer with ESB) presented on the work of the ESB and spoke of ESB’s plans to create an energy efficient Ireland in the coming years. Finally, the evening was closed by Dermot O’ Sullivan (UCC Lecturer) who gave some tips and tricks on the engineering trade and breaking into the workforce after completing your undergraduate degree. The evening was thoroughly enjoyed by all and was incredibly useful information was provided throughout.
