Marita Hennessy PhD presented an overview of the Group’s recently published graphic narrative “Why my baby died” at the Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) Arts and Creative Engagement Roundtable Gathering on 15 June.

This project was one of 16 Seed Projects funded by the IHF in 2023 to support creative explorations of dying, death, and bereavement.

“Why my baby died “is based on interviews with 20 bereaved parents exploring how they could be involved in maternity hospital perinatal death reviews in ways that benefit them and the review process itself. It tells their story, in their own words, and was a collaboration between the Pregnancy Loss Research Group and Amy Lauren, an illustrator who works in coloured pencils, broad colour palettes and storytelling.

The event, held in Dublin, was attended by people involved in the arts, health and community and voluntary sectors across Ireland.

Many thanks to Dominic Campbell (Lead of IHF’s Arts and Creative Engagement Programme) and Elizabeth Hutcheson (Producer - Arts and Creative Engagement, IHF) for the opportunity to share our work at this event.
