Spirituality in perinatal loss: love, loss and connection

Dr Daniel Nuzum was an invited keynote speaker at the recent International Partnership for Perinatal Excellence (IPPE) Summit for Perinatal Excellence held at Bloomington, Minnesota USA from 18 to 21 June. This meeting had 150 attendees from many parts of the world and focussed on a broad range of areas related to promoting excellence in perinatal bereavement care.
In his keynote presentation, Daniel explored the spiritual dimensions of pregnancy loss. Drawing on research from the Pregnancy Loss Research Group, clinical practice, bereavement care theory and personal experience, Daniel ‘s presentation was an interactive and reflective way to explore the multidimensional reality of perinatal loss. Daniel highlighted the spiritual impact of perinatal death and also how spirituality and beliefs/values can be a resource for parents, families, community and healthcare professionals.
