Members of the PLACES team present at Gender Work and Organization Conference
Ruadh Kelly-Harrington and Marita Hennessy PhD presented a series of studies from the PLACES project at the recent Gender Work and Organization Conference (GWO2024). The hybrid session was the second of three concurrent sessions on grief and loss in organisations.
In the opening presentation, Ruadh discussed an international review of workplace leave for early pregnancy loss, published recently in the European Labour Law Journal. Marita then presented findings from a scoping review of workplace supports for pregnancy loss before viability. In the clsoing presentation, Ruadh shared insights into experiences of workplace supports for pregnancy loss from a mixed-methods survey study conducted in Ireland. Professor Ilaria Boncori, Essex University and collaborator on the ‘Early pregnancy endings in the workplace’ project in the UK, chaired the session.
We wish to thank the stream convenors – Professor Elizabeth Siler (Worcester State University, USA), Professor Ilaria Boncori (University of Essex, UK), Dr Kristin S. Williams (Acadia University, Canada), Caroline Rodrigues Silva (Fundação Getúlio Vargas, Brazil) and Dr Amal Abdellatif (Northumbria University, UK) – for the opportunity to share our work. Many thanks also to everyone who attended the session and for the rich discussions that took place.
GWO2024 was held at Cape Breton University, Nova Scotia, from 17-20 June 2024. The conference theme was Imagining Decolonizing Knowledge Exchanges: Embracing the JEDDII Way (Justice, Equity, Diversity and Decolonization, Inclusion & Indigenization).
