Congratulations to Samantha and Felicia on passing their final exams!

20 May 2024

Congratulations to Samantha Ingham and Felicia Deonarine who passed their final year medicine exams with flying colours. Both Samantha and Felicia undertook their final year projects with the Pregnancy Loss Research Group.

Samantha explored gender-based discrimination and sexual harassment within obstetrics and gynaecology training, supervised by Professor Keelin O'Donoghue and Dr Sara Leitao, National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre (NPEC). She presented her research at the Ireland South Women and Infants Directorate Grand Rounds in April 2024, and at the reimagined Junior Obstetrics and Gynaecology Society (JOGS) Annual Scientific Meeting 2023, held virtually in February 2024, where she won ‘Best Medical Student Presentation’ and ‘Second Runner Up Oral Presentation’ overall.

For her final year project, Felicia investigated maternal morbidity and postpartum medical complications in women who experienced stillbirth at Cork University Maternity Hospital between 2017 and 2021, and was supervised by Professor O’ Donoghue. Her work was presented as an oral presentation at the International Stillbirth Alliance (ISA) Conference 2023 in Sheffield, and as a poster presentation at the reimagined JOGS Annual Scientific Meeting 2023.

Both now return to Canada to continue their training. Samantha has matched to the University of British Columbia’s Family Medicine Residency Program in Vancouver, while Felicia has matched to the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Residency Program at Western University, London, Ontario. We wish them the very best for their future careers.
