Three School of Pharmacy Researchers Achieve PhD Milestones with Successful Viva Defences

The School of Pharmacy is delighted to announce the successful PhD viva defences of three of its researchers: Dr Eoin Hurley, Dr Khaled Elkassas, and Dr Ayse Kont.

Dr Eoin Hurley defended his thesis titled: "The Expansion of the Pharmacist's Role in Primary Care in Ireland: a Mixed Methods Study."  He was supervised by Prof Stephen Byrne and Dr Kieran Dalton (School of Pharmacy, UCC); Dr Elaine Walsh and Prof Tony Foley (Department of General Practice, UCC).

Dr Khaled Elkassas defended his thesis titled: "Spectroscopic Insights into the Behaviours of Lyophilised Biopharmaceuticals." He was supervised by Prof Abina M Crean and Dr Sonja Vucen (School of Pharmacy, UCC).

Dr Ayse Kont defended her thesis titled: "Design and Synthesis of New Biomimetic Materials with Tunable Biodistribution Profiles for RNA delivery in Gene Therapy Focusing on Acute Myeloid Leukemia." She was supervised by Prof Caitriona O'Driscoll (School of Pharmacy, UCC).

Congratulations to these accomplished researchers! Their contributions holds great promise for the future of pharmacy and improving patient care.
