The School of Pharmacy, UCC recently welcomed students enroled in the MSc Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Systems (QP Masters) programme for a two-day workshop series.

The programme kicked off with a valuable site visit to MSD Brinny. The School extends its gratitude to Keith Jeavons, Norma White, Damien Manning, and their respective teams for organizing an insightful and informative tour of the facility's Vaccine Drug Substance manufacturing suites and chemical testing laboratory.

Following the visit, students returned to UCC for an afternoon of lectures on Pharmaceutical Manufacturing delivered by programme director Dr Joseph O'Shea.

The second day consisted of workshops on Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Regulatory Affairs, as well as Sterile Manufacturing. Both sessions were led by Prof Brendan Griffin.

These workshops are an integral part of the blended learning format employed in the MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Systems programme. Students participate in on-campus workshops twice a year, in December and March. These workshops encompass lectures, case studies, and industry site visits, providing a well-rounded learning experience.

This MSc is accredited by the HPRA and fulfils the educational requirements for QP status (EU Directives 2001/83/EC ). Further information on this part-time blended learning Masters can be found in the MSc Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Systems prospectus.
