Rasha Alshaikh receives prize for Best Oral Presentation at the annual meeting of the Irish Association of Pharmacologists

Congratulations for UCC School of Pharmacy PhD student Rasha Alshaikh who received the prize for Best Oral Presentation at the annual meeting of the Irish Association of Pharmacologists in Limerick on November 5th.
Rasha’s presentation, titled “Sphingosine 1-phosphate, a potential target in neovascular retinal disease” described the effects of various S1P receptor modulators on cell based models of retinal angiogenesis. This project, with implications for the management of retinal disorders, and carried out under the supervision of Dr Katie Ryan and Prof Christian Waeber, is funded by a Postgraduate Scholarship grant from the Irish Research Council.
