Pharmacy PhD Success Celebrated at UCC Conferring Ceremony

It was a proud moment for the School of Pharmacy on 20 June 2025, as two of our PhD candidates were officially conferred at the College of Medicine and Health Conferring Ceremony.

John Downey and Ayat Elgammal were awarded their PhDs in Pharmacy, marking the culmination of years of dedication and research. Their achievement reflects the strength of UCC’s postgraduate research environment, and the continued impact of pharmacy-led research in healthcare.

Also among those celebrated was Edel Burton, a lecturer in Pharmacy, who was conferred with her PhD from the School of Public Health. Edel’s success highlights the interdisciplinary spirit within the School, and we’re delighted to see her hard work recognised.
