BPharm3 Erasmus student Timothy Levin gives us an insight into life as a pharmacy student in France

Students and staff of the UCC School of Pharmacy were in attendance today at a very informative and insightful talk presented by BPharm3 student Timothy Levin.  Tim, a native of France and studying pharmacy at the University of Montpellier’s Faculty of Pharmacy, is currently an Erasmus student of UCC’s Pharmacy School, and is very much enjoying the experience, both from an academic and cultural perspective.

Tim’s presentation provided us with a great insight into the structure of a typical French university pharmacy curriculum, including placements and the examination process.  In addition, Tim spoke of how the pharmacy profession is regulated in France and the mechanisms in place for the dispensing of medicines to patients through French community pharmacies.

At the lively Question and Answer session afterwards, Tim provided us with his informed views of the teaching and learning approaches of UCC’s pharmacy programme relative to those of his home institution at the University of Montpellier.

Our thanks to PharmSoc for organising the event.
