Irish Cancer Society Visit: Support Services Highlighted

The UCC School of Pharmacy welcomed a special guest speakers, Sinead Power and Audrey Baker, Cancer Nurses from the Irish Cancer Society, who delivered an inspiring talk on the wide range of supports available to people affected by cancer in Ireland. 

Key services discussed included the Daffodil Centres, the Support Line, patient education programmes, transport and financial grant services, counselling, creative therapies for young people, and the Night Nursing service providing end-of-life care at home.

The speakers emphasised the Society’s mission to support cancer patients and heard firsthand the impact made possible by community generosity and volunteer support. This talk highlighted both the importance of integrated cancer care and the real-world impact of Irish Cancer Society’s commitment to patients.
