On 19 November, we marked International Men’s Day, a global celebration recognising the positive contributions men make to their families, their communities and to the world. The 2025 theme, “Celebrating Men and Boys”. highlights the importance of uplifting and acknowledging the role they play in shaping a better society. This year, in honour of his significant contributions to their School and the wider College of Medicine and Health, the CoMH EDI Steering Group presented the International Men’s Day Appreciation Award to Dr Ken Devine.

His commitment, leadership, and positive impact exemplify the spirit of this day. Through his role as Chief Technical Officer in the School of Pharmacy, Dr Devine is widely recognised for his sustained contribution to the School’s teaching and research.

Ken’s collegiality, positive attitude, and approachable manner, combined with his technical expertise, have supported countless students in laboratory classes and enabled researchers to achieve key experimental goals. His empathetic nature has guided research students and staff through challenging times, offering a listening ear and sage advice. In addition to his professional excellence, Ken is a talented athlete and serves as an inspiring role model for men’s health and wellbeing.

Congratulations Ken!
