Dr. Stephen Keely (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland) will present a School of Pharmacy Seminar, Wednesday 25th January, 4pm in LG52 on: “Bile Acids in Intestinal Health and Disease: why FXR is Good for BAD”

After graduating with a PhD from the Dept of Pharmacology, University College Dublin, Dr. Keely travelled to the University of California, San Diego, where he carried out his postdoctoral studies in the Dept. of Medicine. 

He returned to Ireland in 2005 to take up the position of Associate Director of Molecular Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Dr. Keely’s research is focused primarily on investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms by which bile acids regulate intestinal epithelial physiology, with the ultimate goal of identifying new approaches for the treatment of common intestinal diseases.
