Dr Jatin Nagpal Receives APC Future Leaders Award for Microbiome Research

Dr Jatin Nagpal, a joint faculty member of the School of Pharmacy and the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at University College Cork, has been awarded the prestigious APC Future Leaders Award by APC Microbiome Ireland.
This recognition highlights his exceptional contributions to microbiome research, particularly focusing on the gut-brain axis and its impact on stress-related behaviours. His recent success in securing an SFI Pathways grant and leading the redevelopment of APC's zebrafish facility further demonstrates his commitment to advancing research infrastructure and driving innovation in the field.
Dr Nagpal is also co-chair of UCC's Race Equality Network, actively working to create a more equitable academic environment. Through his dedication to scientific research and diversity initiatives, he has emerged as a leader who bridges the lab and the community. These achievements align with the School of Pharmacy’s vision, which emphasises empowering leaders in pharmacy who embody integrity, innovation, inclusivity, and impact in pharmaceutical care.
