Farmers invited to share experiences of bird-related crop damage
UCC researchers are inviting farmers across Ireland to take part in a short survey exploring experiences of bird-related crop damage
Birds can play an important role in agricultural ecosystems, but some species can also cause damage to crops. Understanding farmers’ experiences is an important part of ongoing research at University College Cork.
The 5–10 minute anonymous questionnaire asks farmers about their experiences of bird-related crop damage and the measures they use to manage it. The research aims to improve understanding of the scale and drivers of bird-related crop damage in Ireland.
Farmers in Ireland are encouraged to contribute their experiences by completing the questionnaire:
The research is led by Prof. John Quinn, with Dr Sayantani Basak as Postdoctoral Researcher, through the UCC Ornithology Group, in collaboration with NPWS and Teagasc.
