UCC subjects ranked in world’s top 25 and 100
- Nursing, English Language and Literature, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, and Performing Arts ranked within the Top 100, according to the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject.
UCC has been named as one of the world's top universities for the study of 27 subjects according to the latest world subject rankings produced by higher education analysts, QS.
Nursing (25), English Language and Literature (82), Pharmacy and Pharmacology (92), Performing Arts (51-100), are all confirmed within the Top 100.
Each of Dentistry (51-150), Agriculture and Forestry (101-150), Modern Languages (101-150), Law (101-150), Medicine (196), Archaeology (151-200), Anatomy and Physiology (101-200), are at the top end of their respective ranks and make up the up the eleven UCC subjects (overall), now featuring inside the top 200. This is up from 9 subjects last year.
The subjects that moved up in the ranking were Archaeology, English Language and Literature, Modern Languages, Medicine, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Dentistry, Nursing, Education, and Sociology.
Nursing at UCC improved for the sixth year in a row and is now ranked an impressive 25th in the world, among its peers.
This year's rankings saw 6,277 institutions analysed and a total 1,912 universities across 166 countries feature on the published listings. The rankings are based on a combination of different indicators relating to academic and employer reputation, and to research.
Welcoming the results, UCC President Professor John O’Halloran MRIA said: “We are pleased to feature so prominently in this set of World University Subject rankings by QS. The breadth of subjects listed across University College Cork is so positive to see and reflects our core mission of top-quality teaching and research as well as our ambition to continually improve UCC’s global standing."
