11am - 12pm 10 Mar 2026 Innovation Week: Research IP & Invention Disclosures: What You Need to Know Have you considered the IP and impact potential of your research? Do you know when a finding might be protectable, or the right time to submit an invention disclosure (IDF)? This practical workshop by David Corkery (Operations Manager at UCC Innovation) is designed specifically for researchers and will cover the basics of intellectual property, patents, and the IDF process. We’ll cover what counts as an invention, when and how to disclose, and how early disclosures interact with publications, grant applications, and future collaborations. This Academic Health Sciences System (AHSS) event will include short contributions from UCC Innovation, CoMH & HSE Research & Innovation supports, HSE Spark, HSE South West Change and Innovation, and Health Innovation Hub Ireland (HIHI), followed by a senior leadership panel discussion on accelerating impact and building a stronger culture of innovation in our region. They will also go in-depth into the application process, providing advice to researchers on what the Hub is looking for, and how to increase your chance of success; Q&A. 1.30pm - 3pm 12 Mar 2026 Innovation Week: Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Supports Roadshow The Enterprise Ireland Commercialisation Team will provide a comprehensive overview of the grants available to researchers to develop commercial pathways including feasibility study grants, proof of concept funding and commercialisation funding. This will be followed by four case studies from UCC researchers who have gone through this process and attracted funding. There will be a panel discussion and Q&A and an opportunity to speak with the Enterprise Ireland Team one to one following the information session. Registration required. 2pm - 3.30pm 11 Mar 2026 Innovation Week: CUBS Leadership Conversation Series - In Conversation with Eddie Wilson, Ryanair DAC CEO Cork University Business School (CUBS) will welcome Eddie Wilson, Chief Executive Officer of Ryanair DAC as part of the CUBS Leadership Conversation Series. Eddie joined Ryanair in 1997, when it had just 20 aircraft, as Head of Human Resources. His role quickly expanded to include airport deals, ground handling, inflight retail, and the design and launch of Ryanair.com. He later became Director of Inflight Operations, overseeing thousands of staff and a major retail programme. Appointed Chief People Officer in 2015, he became CEO in 2019. He will be hosted by Dean Prof Anthony McDonnell for an interview-style discussion, followed by a Q&A.
